Sarah Arsane est une étoile de l'écriture. Elle fait son retour au festival Génération Court, où elle présentera son premier film adapté de son premier roman. L'autrice française de 28 ans traite de sujets dont il est difficile, mais nécessaire, de parler : le viol, le sexe après avoir été victime de viol, et les tabous qui les lient. Son troisième roman, Onzième Étage, on ne le repose pas avant d'en être au point final. Et quel final, j'en ai encore des frissons. Quand elle me cite Virginie Despentes comme référence, je sais que ce n'est pas un nom choisi au hasard. Sarah Arsane est aussi de ces femmes qui mettent en lumière ce qu'on refuse de voir, une étoile dans un ciel bien trop sombre, mais bien trop réel. —Mélissa Chidiac

Sarah Arsane is a literary star. She returns to the Génération Court festival, to present her first film adaptation of her first novel. The 28-year-old French author deals with subjects that are difficult to talk about, but necessary to air, like rape, sex after being a rape victim, and the taboos that bind them. Her third novel, Onzième Étage, was unputdownable until the end. And what a finale, it still gives me chills. When she cites Virginie Despentes as a reference, I know it's not a name chosen at random. Sarah Arsane is also one of those women who brings to light what we refuse to see, a star in a sky that is all too dark, but all too real. —Mélissa Chidiac

Karen Lancaume et Raffaëla Anderson nous prouvent qu’elles en sont tout aussi capables de se diversifier en tant qu'actrices, même si elles ont débuté dans le porno. Baise-moi est un des premiers films de ce siècle dans lequel le sujet du viol est traité sans artifices. Virginie Despentes est particulièrement inspirante pour sa capacité à déranger, à changer les codes et bouleverser les normes.
Karen Lancaume and Raffaëla Anderson prove that starting out in porn doesn’t mean they aren’t capable of diversifying as actresses. Fuck Me was one of the first films of this century in which rape was treated as a serious subject without artifice. Virginie Despentes is particularly inspiring for her ability to disturb, change codes and challenge norms.
"SOUFI, MON AMOUR", ELIF SHAFAK (2009)
Ce roman réunit trois éléments qui me touchent : l’histoire d’amour entre deux personnes du même sexe, le monde arabe et la religion comme élément central de leur histoire. Certain·es affirment que c'est une histoire d’amour, d’autres préfèrent dire qu'il s’agit d’une relation spirituelle. Moi, je retiens le fait que cette histoire entre deux hommes soit racontée par une femme.
This novel brings together three elements that appeal to me: a love story between two people of the same sex, the Arab world and religion as the central element of their story. Some say it's a love story, others prefer to call it a spiritual relationship. For me, it's the fact that this story between two men is told by a woman.
"4 HEURES DU MATIN", LOUZ AND THE YAKUZA (2020)
Certains éléments du parcours de Lous and the Yakuza résonnent en moi : se retrouver à la rue, les difficultés qui vont avec, en particulier pour une femme. Dans cette chanson, elle aborde aussi le sujet du viol. Nous avons le point commun d’exprimer nos expériences tragiques au travers nos arts.
Some elements of Lous and the Yakuza's journey resonates with my own: finding yourself on the streets, the difficulties that go with that, especially for a woman. In this song, she also tackles the subject of rape. Expressing traumatic experiences through our art is what we have in common.
